Bosch household appliances is unveiling over 100 new products at IFA 2009, the top international fair for consumer electronics and home appliances. The company is using the new “Green Technology inside” symbol to put even greater emphasis on the energy efficiency and sustainability of its appliances. Launched at the start of the IFA, the “Green Technology inside” symbol will appear on all appliances with technologies that are particularly economical with resources. “This symbol makes it clear to consumers that the appliance protects the environment and improves our day-to-day lives thanks to cutting-edge concepts in convenience and machine operation,” explains Volker Klodwig, CEO of the Robert Bosch Hausgeräte GmbH.
The new quality symbol will be appearing on innovations from all business units. One good example of these efficient technologies are the new special energy-saving EcoWash models. These appliances allow users to lower the temperature of their wash programs, thus helping consumers actively contribute to climate protection while also looking after their clothes. Indeed, many of the stains and marks regularly found on clothes can actually be dissolved in cold or lukewarm water. As a result, there is no need to use high temperatures when washing laundry with light to normal soiling or sportswear that is sweaty but otherwise virtually spotless. In fact, increased temperatures actually put high-quality fibers under a far greater level of stress. In other words, lower washing temperatures don’t just help protect the environment, they also extend the lifespan of our clothes. The “one-click-down” principle supported by the special models allows consumers to easily select a lower level and save up to 40 percent on electricity. What’s more, the EcoWash 20 °C program enables energy savings of up to 70 percent.
Bosch household appliances is also providing IFA visitors with useful and easy-to-understand information on how to conserve resources. Bosch energy consultants, the Bosch energy calculator and the know-how quiz are all helping visitors to find out for free how they can save energy and cut their household budget.
