Family-friendly HR policy
For the second time since 2006, Robert Bosch GmbH has been awarded the “berufundfamilie” (“career and family”) audit certificate for its Ansbach plant.
Along with 320 other companies, institutions, and higher education institutes, Robert Bosch GmbH has been awarded the “berufundfamilie” certificate for its Ansbach plant in Germany.

The “berufundfamilie” audit is carried out under the patronage of the German Family Minister and German Minister of Economics and honors the commitment companies have made to implementing family-friendly HR policies. The Ansbach plant received the basic certificate back in 2006. In 2009, as part of the regular checks carried out every 3 years, the location agreed more far-reaching objectives for the next three years. These include making working time increasingly flexible, improving the provision of childcare, and providing increased support for associates who act as carers for family members.

Bosch has initiated a diverse range of measures to create a proper balance between career and family life. These include access to 100 part-time working models, teleworking options, and help with childcare. The issue of caring for parents or other relatives is also an important consideration for Bosch. A recently launched touring exhibition entitled “Family and Career” aims to ensure the locations are fully informed of what is available and to act as a springboard for initiating further discussion and actions. “We want to ensure it is possible for you to combine family and career effectively,” said Wolfgang Malchow, member of the Bosch board of management responsible for HR, at the opening of the exhibition. The touring exhibition is based on an initiative by the family@bosch forum and has been developed in cooperation with the equal opportunities project, the in-house social services and HR departments at the locations, and the Bosch company health insurance fund.
