Already considered a trailblazer and leader in manufacturing of green appliances, Bosch has been awarded with the 2007 Excellence in ENERGY STAR Promotion Award by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy. The award recognizes the brand's significant contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by employing low impact manufacturing techniques, promoting energy efficient products and increasing the profile of green building nationwide. In fact, Bosch currently has the distinction of being the only manufacturer to have ENERGY STAR qualification on all its product models in every major appliance category that the program rates. The brand has established key partnerships with other leaders in the green building movement, such as the U.S. Green Building Council. Additionally, Bosch recently launched its unique online Green Resource Center to help consumers and builders calculate their immediate savings by using its products.
Last year alone, with the help of the ENERGY STAR program and companies like Bosch, Americans saved $14 billion on their energy bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions to the equivalent of more than 25 million vehicles. "Partners like Bosch are national leaders in energy efficiency," said Alexander Karsner, Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the Department of Energy. "The ENERGY STAR Excellence Award winners are leaders in adopting energy efficient technologies for their products and practices. Their long term commitment to energy efficiency is good for business, the environment, for consumers, and for the country as a whole."
Recently, Bosch launched a new online Green Resource Center that offers unique tools such as the Energy Savings Calculator that computes the annual energy costs and savings for individual Bosch appliances, and a localized Rebate Finder that links to the latest information on the ENERGY STAR site. Understanding the different needs of homeowners and builders, developers and architects, the site is divided into different sections for consumer and trade visitors. For example, the trade section simplifies the process of securing appliance credits for the many environmental certification programs, such as LEED® for Homes, Earthcraft House, BuildingGreen and the Santa Monica Green Building Program. "Bosch has been an active supporter of the sustainable living and green building movement and we are truly honored that our achievements in this area are being recognized with the 2007 ENERGY STAR Excellence Award," said Franz J. Bosshard, president and CEO. "We are very proud of this award, our close continued partnership with ENERGY STAR and the difference we are making in energy conservation around the world."
Bosch has also lent its support to non-profits promoting sustainable construction such as the U.S. Green Building Council and Earth Pledge, and developers of new concepts in pre-fabricated green housing such as LivingHomes® and the Glidehouse(TM). The brand also currently serves as a lead sponsor for the exhibition "The Green House: New Directions in Sustainable Architecture and Design," which is currently on display in Washington, D.C. through June 2007.
